Discussion: New Friends
Can men and women simply be friends? This seems to be a question that developed different answers with time and the ppl you ask. Is it possible for a woman not to catch feelings for a male friend and is it possible for a male friend to not want to have sex with a female? These two side questions are part of the debate. I personally believe that a simple friendship is possible between the opposite sex. To maintain this relationship however u have to keep your distance. When I tell ppl that my bestie is a male(shouts out to bestie. Happy belated) ppl think that I'm crazy and they always ask if we have sex. Well the past is the past and what my bestie and I have now is beyond sex and anybody who truly knows our friendship can attest to that(to bad there aren't too many ppl who know how close our bond is). Another thing about opposite sex friendships is that you have to keep them a little bit private because the more ppl ask about them the more you r forced to think about one another which can cause mixed feelings. Opposite sex friendships should also be strongly based on conversation. If u find that all you and your male or female friend talk about is sex whether it be with each other or another then maybe u should reevaluate that friendship. You and you friend should be able to talk about anything comfortably. Jealousy is a major part of these friendships as well. As long as u r in that persons life on a true friend capacity you are always going to find your self jealous of something or someone in that persons life. And if that person understands u and feels the same way that u do then they too will be jealous of certain things in your life. And I find that this type of jealousy only exist in male/female friendships. My bestie and I have been thru a lot together and we have been friends for about 6 years and our ups and downs have made us stronger as a team. Some ppl will never understand a male/female friendship but I understand them perfectly and to me there is nothing like them.
